Summary: Mumbai surpass Delhi as Shreyas Iyer gives a dazzling performance

Deshpande, Iyer shine as Mumbai defeat Delhi

In their match against Mumbai, the top scorers for Delhi were Dhruv Shorey and Lalit Yadav, each scoring 33. However, those 66 runs were scored from 55 balls, limiting Delhi to a modest 144 for 7. Mumbai had no trouble chasing the target, achieving victory with eight wickets and an entire over remaining in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League match in Indore.
Tushar Deshpande, a medium pacer, was the star of the day for the Mumbai bowlers. He took out Unmukt Chand and Nitish Rana in consecutive balls in the tenth over of Delhi’s innings, and later dismissed Lalit Yadav and Subodh Bhati in the final overs.
While Prithvi Shaw fell early in the innings, with a reasonably achievable target ahead, Jay Bista and Shreyas Iyer comfortably pursued the target. Bista departed after scoring 39 from 33 balls, but Iyer, the captain, ensured victory with an unbeaten 53, supported by Suryakumar Yadav’s quick 42 from 26 balls in an unbroken 76-run partnership for the third wicket.
Following a poor batting display that led to a nine-wicket defeat against Vidarbha in their opening match, this was Delhi’s second consecutive loss in the Super League stage.

Karnataka secures second consecutive win with all-round performance

Karnataka faced a challenging situation when Uttar Pradesh reached 90 for the loss of just one wicket in the 13th over of their pursuit of 150. However, the experience and expertise of Manish Pandey’s team guided them to victory.
Batting first, Karnataka posted 149 for 6, with Rohan Kadam (35) and Mayank Agarwal (33) making significant contributions, supported by three other batsmen who all crossed the 20-run mark.
M Prasidh Krishna struck early, dismissing Samarth Singh to leave UP at 31 for 1 in the fifth over, but Akshdeep Nath and Upendra Yadav initiated a recovery, adding 60 runs before Nath’s departure. Post that, the UP innings collapsed rapidly, with medium pacer V Koushik claiming three wickets. UP finished at 139 for 8, falling short by ten runs in a match where they could have secured their first win through a more determined effort.

Muthuswamy, Tripathi guide Maharashtra to victory

Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed for a duck for the second consecutive game as Bengal managed to muster only 138 for 7 in their 20 overs. Maharashtra comfortably achieved the target in just 17.1 overs, securing a seven-wicket win in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League Group A match in Indore.
Domnic Muthuswami, the right-arm medium pacer celebrating his 38th birthday, inflicted significant damage on the Bengal batting lineup, removing Shreevats Goswami and Abhimanyu Easwaran with the score reading 3 for 3. Muthuswami ended with figures of 3 for 15 from his four overs. Despite a strong fightback led by Manoj Tiwary and Shahbaz Ahmed, who put on 55 runs after the team was struggling at 25 for 5, Bengal’s target seemed below par.
Rahul Tripathi’s unbeaten 46-ball 60 at the top of the order made the target appear even smaller. Ruturaj Gaekwad provided an early impetus, scoring 20 runs out of the first 25, and then Tripathi and Rohit Motwani (36) combined for a 59-run partnership for the second wicket, securing the win for Maharashtra.

Jharkhand triumphs over Railways by five wickets

Jharkhand restricted Railways to 135 for 8 after opting to bowl first. Medium-pacer Rahul Shukla, the second leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 16 wickets in seven games, claimed 2 for 19 in four overs, with offspinner Utkarsh Singh contributing with 1 for 14 in three overs. Railways’ only notable individual performance with the bat was opener Pratham Singh’s 41 off 39 balls.

In response, Anand and Ishan Kishan established an opening partnership of 47, before Virat joined Anand to contribute 51 for the second wicket. Despite a mid-innings setback, with Jharkhand falling from 98 for 1 to 110 for 4 in less than three overs, Virat guided them to victory in the 19th over while securing his fifty with 10 runs off the last two balls.
