R Ashwin has been added to the Rest of India squad for the Irani Trophy in place of Ravindra Jadeja, who has suffered a side strain and has been advised to take a week’s rest. Ashwin, who was sidelined from the Deodhar trophy due to a ‘nagging problem’ just a day after being appointed captain of India A squad, has now been declared fit to participate.
Leading the squad, Karun Nair also included his Karnataka team-mate Mayank Agarwal, who has amassed over 2000 runs in the domestic season this year. Other notable picks in the squad were Under-19 World Cup-winning skipper Prithvi Shaw, Haryana offspinner Jayant Yadav and pacers Siddarth Kaul and Navdeep Saini.
Rest of India is set to take on Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha in Nagpur from March 14 to 18.
